KBRA Affirms AA/K1+ Ratings for Ireland; Outlook Revised to Positive
9 Oct 2026 | Dublin
KBRA Europe (KBRA) affirms Ireland’s long-term issuer ratings of AA. KBRA also affirms the short-term issuer ratings of K1+. The Outlook on the long-term ratings has been revised to Positive from Stable.
The affirmation of Ireland’s credit ratings and revision of the Outlook to Positive reflect its high-income, competitive and institutionally robust economy, supported by strong underlying growth, high employment and resilient private-sector balance sheets. Ireland’s fiscal position has also improved considerably, with sustained budget surpluses, declining debt ratios and a growing government financial asset position providing substantial fiscal flexibility. KBRA recognises the risks arising from the concentration of corporation tax receipts and Ireland’s exposure to changes in global trade, US policy and multinational investment. However, solid market access, sizeable liquidity buffers and a favourable debt profile provide meaningful capacity to absorb external shocks, while continued economic growth and further improvement in the sovereign balance sheet could further enhance resilience.
