Formed in October 2015 as a Maryland Corporation, Blue Owl Capital Corporation (NYSE: OBDC or “the company”) is a publicly traded New York based, externally managed, non-diversified closed-end management investment company that has elected to be treated as a business development company (“BDC”) under the Investment Company Act of 1940. For tax purposes, OBDC has elected to be treated as a regulated investment company (“RIC”).
OBDC is externally managed by Blue Owl Credit Advisors LLC (“Advisor”), an indirect subsidiary of Blue Owl Capital, Inc. (NYSE: OWL), a global alternative asset manager with $319+ billion of AUM as of 2Q26.
The Blue Owl credit platform was founded by Douglas Ostrover, Marc Lipschultz, and Craig Packer, all veterans of the industry. Logan Nicholson was named President of the diversified BDCs in 2024.
