KBRA’s affirmation of Chile's ratings reflects the sovereign’s small, open and diversified economy, strong and stable institutions and prudent macroeconomic policies, including fiscal savings through sovereign wealth funds. These attributes support resilience to shocks and underpin a solid liquidity profile, which is aided by deep local capital markets and further strengthened by the recent pension reform. These strengths are balanced against Chile’s slow growth compared to EM peers and the continued rise in public debt from a moderate baseline. External risks persist, including global trade protectionism and commodity dependence. The Stable Outlook balances the recent political transition, which reduces near-term uncertainty and improves the investment outlook, against modest growth as well as fiscal challenges.
