KBRA Releases Report Affirming the AA Rating and Stable Outlook on City of Birmingham, AL General Obligation Debt

On October 27, 2023, KBRA affirmed the long-term rating of AA with a Stable Outlook on the City of Birmingham’s outstanding General Obligation Bonds and General Obligation Warrants.

The AA rating reflects the City of Birmingham’s role as a regional center for finance, trade, cultural activities, manufacturing and transportation, and its prominence as the State’s primary economic driver. The City’s conservative financial management policies, exceptionally strong reserves, and improving pension funding outlook, tempered by its reliance on economically sensitive taxes, underpins the rating.
